Debs post about shoes has prompted me to ask if anyone has had any success with the above items.
They were all on display on nas course. Ds has real problems sitting.
Anyone tried any of these items?

My DS had the disc-o-sit thing. Can't say it made any difference

We use a lap pad at school - only when Ds is upset though - I have yet to persuade the school he could use it during any sitting task. It does seem to help though.

I second Tclanger's opinion of the move and sit seat -it helps dd enormously as it gives her sensory input. Sounds as though we have the same seat, too.

oh that's interesting tclanger. ds has unstable pelvis and shoulder girdles, low muscle tone and hypermobility in joints. He has a tremor in his left arm and hand.

Improvements at mealtimes would be good. Not sure it's feasible for school (he would have to carry it to all different lessons). He would lose it actually.
I think the sensory input would be good too.

Wish there was a resource library where you could borrow one and try it .

Anyone tried the weighted lap pads?

We borrowed a movnsit from the OT before purchasing ours. I liked it too but ds only arrived recently so do not know how useful it is for school yet.

I was supposed to make a lap dog pad and bought all the ingredients ( spotty dog fabric, 2kg dried beans, eyes) but at the moment we are using an old hedghog hand puppet stuffed with a packet of rice! Ds seems to like it. Must make the real one as school are waiting for it! Couldn't work out how to make it practical ie washable without complicated things like zips!

Well Ds isnt usually into cuddly toys but he seems to enjoy the hedgehog now I've weighted it. Ofcourse having been missing or delicate for a few weeks (was in hospital) the hedgehog might be a huggy-mummy substitute so do not know if its the weight or other factors. Feel a bit guilty about all the jobs/ missed appointments etc - so time to get the sewing kit out!
