We started running a programme last year. the tutor we had (we just employed one, for various reasons) was s tudent who worked cash i nhand. All well and good.

Looking for tutors now, and not so many are keen on the cash in hand aspect.

Does anyone have any advice over contracts etc? Is self employed an option, given that i want regular hours etc?

Any help gratefully recieved!

what do they want - a direct debit ? I assume any tutor to be self employed and to take responsibility for tax/NI - what they actually do I don't know. The Nanny tax thing was a nightmare and i would not do that again.

I have had no luck finding people experienced i nABA - not a problem as suc, as obv trainning given, but it does mean that they are moving form other jobs etc, and the whole self employed thng is outting them off a little.

However, ireally do not want ot go down the employed route, as you say, it's a nightmare.

Having looked into it briefly, the rules say that if you have regular work, with regular hours, for regular pay, you are employed and cannot be classed as self employed - aaarrrggghhh!

I feel like giving up and running dd1's programme myself (sadly not an option, realistically!)

As our program was LEA funded ours were all Self-Employed. I just posted on the other current ABA thread about using other sources of money to pay for therapy which, apart from Direct Payments, you could use for cash in hand I suppose. I would persuade them to go Self-Employed, at least for the part of their working life they work for you. That way you don't need to offer Ts & Cs. I don't know about a Contract, we have a fairly generic one for when we use DPs. We never had one with our ABA program but we did have a list of "rules/expectations" such as don't use your phone, don't eat during sessions, be on time etc. It was worded nicely, not nasty.
