Fumily Fund- questions about earnings thresholds

Hi all, just wanted to find out if any of you knew why the Family Fund Grant people have the cut off of earnings at £23,000 for England but £25,000 for Scotland, Wales, and N Ireland.

Was going to put in an application for help with the garden DD2 can not go out without 1 to 1 supervision due to risk of infection (CF) and being 8 months preg with DC3 we don't go out much . Got all excited ( I know it's not guarunteed or anything). I checked dh's pay slips etc he earns under the threshold for England but when I started filling out the form my carer's allowance took us over. It just irritated me that if we lived in any of the other regions we would still be entitled....

This has turned in slightly more of a rant than I planned, as I know they are a charitable trust but they are also Government funded iyswim?

Would love to understand the reasoning...

Hi DorisIsapinkdragon

We are in the same position as yourselves, we earn more than is allowed however we applied four years ago and were successful as they took all our outgoings into consideration. I haven't made any applications since so i'm not sure if their system has changed but it may be worth your while applying anyway.

We got a washing machine, money for clothes and money for a double pushchair. It was all greatly appreciated.

Thanks sandhills, maybe I'll give them a call to see how favourable they are to applications over the limit.

With DC3 on the horizon the gardens gone down the priority list

Niot sure but wouldn't it be set by Assmebly / etc?

That would explain it, bit like us getting free rpescriptions etc

DorisIsAPinkDragon · 09/05/2009 20:31

That would make sense peachy, (doesn't make it any fairer )

Think I will see what they say on Monday, If I can pluck up the courage to be really cheeky, then let it lie.

Oh well....

No it's not fair- and is one of ther easons I won't move back to England: qui9te frankly, most things here in Wales are, IMO, better catered for. Fancy moving here?

I suppose it not really that far for DH to commute !!!{grin] He could do Devon to south wales in a couple of hours!!!

Why not, we did Somerset to South Wales for a goodly while PMSL (although Dh ended up working in bristol)

Bridgwater - South Wales = 45 minutes; we can reach Axminster and Honiton for carnivals in 90.

Yeah CA is counted but we would have creaked in last year, Dh got a V small pay rise (great or so I thought) but that's taken us over.

You should be ok riven, Good Luck as it sounds like you most definitely need a new one!
