For a computer that is. I have just found a fantastic game involving Harold the Helicopter and balloons which DS1 is very motivated to play but he can't control the mouse properly. Is there an adapted mouse that children with poor motor control can use ?

We started with a trackball and progressed onto the mouse.

The first trackball had a button you could press so you could click and drag without having to remain 'clicked'.

DS1 is a whizz on the mouse now. But it was all small stages.

Inclusive Technology your best bet

mouse alternatives

We had this (without the switches) which worked well, but there are new products out there now so probably other choices.

A joystick might be an option. Would he be able to control the mouse any better if you slowed down the speed? You can do this in the 'control panel' of the computer.

I think I might try this from Inclusive Tech as they have a returns policy that will let me send it back if it;s not suitable. I am no good at PC mice anyway so it might help me too as I am used to tamer Mac Mice. The problem is controlling the movement and the clicking but i will definitely slow it down to see it that helps

That looks a good choice. A trackball was definitely the way to go for ds1.

yes - i realise it sounds like something the RSPCA should be dealing with (to get an adapted mousehole) - still got some fantastic ideas
