ill-fitting nappies - is it just my child?

DS5 is a bit small - hes 3yrs in a couple of weeks, but only weighs 26lb. he generally wears:
12-18mth bottoms
18-24mth tops
12-18mth vests

so this would suggest hes taller on the to half than the bottom, yes?

anyway, currently hes in size 5 nappies (22lb to 44lb i think) - the waist band fits nicely, but the bottom bit (bwtween the legs) seems to be extremely baggy, and hangs flapping in the breeze - and results in leaks. If he wears the size down the waistband doesnt fit so well, rubs and leaks in a different place . WE have tried pampers, currently use Huggies (blue) and HUggies (red) dont fit either.

anyone else's DC got a wierd shaped bum? and is there a solution?

Which flavour of pampers do you buy?

DS2 is about the same size. I find pampers active fit 4+ fit ok at the moment, DS2 has a big tummy, and also Tescos stretchy ones(can't think what they are called - Superfit??), are quite good.

With DS1 I used to chop and change nappies all the time as he grew and changed shape.

tried the green ones of pampers but not the purple ones. not sure of the 'make'.

think i tried tescos 'superfit' once too a while back. might try them again see if they fit better.

flavour

lol @ what flavour pampers.

The purple pampers are active fit ones, and might fit a bit better.

I've got the exact same problem with DS 3.5, I've found huggies pull ups are good, but a faff having to take trousers off all the time.

We use purple pampers and huggies (the ones that are pull ups but can undo like nappies)

silverfrog · 08/05/2009 13:48

I have this issue too.

dd1 now only in nappies overnight, thank god, but boy are they foul in the mornings!

We use Pampers gree (have found the purple ones are more likely to leak with dd1, also for some reason the rub on the inside fo her thighs)

but the sizing bit always mystifies me.

she fits into them from 4+ upwards, and it seems to vary monthly which ones are most effective.

Aldi's own brand are quite good, used them for my skinnymalinx for quite a while. Then he started leaking in them and now we do huggies again.

Not any advise, just a rant, but there is plenty of kids in Kent just now who have ill-fitting nappies after the continence service decided to switch from Tena to Molicare, which are bloody useless

cherrymonster · 08/05/2009 22:54

just a thought, but might pull ups be an idea? i use the tesco ones for my dd's and they are so much less saggy

misscutandstick · 09/05/2009 11:31

been and got a purple pampers, and a tescos superfit - if they're no good will try the pull-ups, what size do they go down to, anyone know?
