Wondered if anyone can enlighten me please?

DS1 was on low rate care and mobility and has been increased to mid care and low mobility

Called tax credits and they said that they don't need to know of the change unless he gets high rate care is this right?

im sure its just high rate claim

but as you get medium for care you can apply for carers allowence

If your ds gets middle rate care, you get disability element, if he gets higher rate - you get the severe disability element. Make sure you say want payments backdated to the date that it changed.
It usually only takes a phone-call, but sometimes you get an idiot who doesn't know how to do their job.

Aha! It is the same amount, whether your ds is getting lower rate or middle rate, so yep, no change.
