www.bibic.org.uk/newsite/general/about.htm

Is it this group? Don't know much about them I'm afraid. How's it gone??

Peachy · 06/05/2009 19:04

How did it go Phoenix?

We've used them for both boys and I have long associations with them (they did a lecture with my volunteers at work when we lived there, and I used to meet with them on behalf of the charity). We liked them very much, and trust them 9they didnt DX but affirmed our understanding of what the issues were IYSWIM).

We did however eventually find the plans ahrd to maintain X 2, and when ds1 started threatening the manager (not to her favce but ony as she wasnt handY0 becuase of his GF diet we decided to become quitters.

They were excellent though. if you're in that pre-DX marsh and need someone to throw you a rope they're wonderful.

hey, was wondering too... oh, 2 days.

will check back on friday pm XXX

Phoenix4725 · 07/05/2009 20:51

what a hetic few days but so worth it .

lots of information and was nice to have someone to confirm what i was seeing and pick up on what i had missed as well .

ds is really only working at 18 months - 2 years on some skills and 12-15 months on others but it showed up big areas of skills that he just has not devloped.

But they hve given me lots of ideas and ways on how to help him devlope them and tailor made a plan for him which is something that the nhs has never done .
ds were found in some areas he is under senstive to touch but his head he is over senstive to touch

did full lucky and they had a visitng neurolgist there for something else and he very kindly made time to see us and he is going to write to s paed locally and ask them o refer him to his nhs clinic as he feels ds total lack of laungage warrants more investigations his expressive laungage has really seemed to stop at around the 3-6 month level and his receptive laungage is really only around 18 months so worse than i thought

we now have a programme to do takes 15-20 minues to try do twice a day .

fantastic that you got at least a few answers and a new path to try.

crappy to hear about his speech tho, sorry to hear that - but at least you can see a path forward. You're a fantastic mum, so im know hes in good hands there .

good news about the neuro tho! hopefully the NHS will take up the slack a bit, and get something done to help too.

I was a bit shocked too when i heard that DS5's expressive speech was around 8mths, I didnt even know they could time it to that sort of age! He has receptive language also to 18mths.

I was also wondering how the signing was going? didnt we both talk about 2sign sentences at the same time? when is your DS 4y? keeping my fingers crossed for your statementing. XXX

Phoenix , glad it was useful.

DS3's language was similar at his appt (aged almost 4 IIRC) and ahs moved on, BIBIC sorted out PECs for us which made masses of difference I think, and the diets they gave us helped ds1.

TotalChaos · 08/05/2009 16:12

glad you found it so helpful, though obviously upsetting as any assessment tends to be in pinpointing all the problem areas.

TinySocks · 08/05/2009 16:52

Phoenix, having that neurologist there was like finding gold dust. Really happy for you. I know it is never easy to hear how delayed our kids are, but on the positive side hopefully this will mean that your DS will finally get the help he needs.
