Anyone hear that Radio 4 programme about Margaret Thatcher today?

I came away with the feeling she might have Aspergers! All the workaholic stuff, obsessed with policy rather than all the other human stuff politicians have to do, 'lack of self-examining ability,' being far too literal and not getting lots of humour, assuming everyone else could work as hard/long as her and getting frustrated when they couldn't, getting lost in debates where she wasn't sure of herself and digressing to things she was sure about. Oh I know that could be anyone but listening to the whole programme, I just got that funny feeling...

I'm not sure to be honest. The DSM IV criteria states that it must "cause clinically significant impairment in social, occupational,or other important areas of
functioning."
Getting to be PM must surely mean you've got quite good social skills and occupational functioning skills. It's highly possible she had strong traits, but enough to give her a diagnosis? Not sure about that.

I think there might be a whole category of unDX'd adults out there who might well have been DX'd as kids had it been possible, but who have managed to train themselves to fit in somehow. Perhaps they had lots of support in a way which suited them individually as children, have found work they can excel in and perhaps have partners who support and complement them. They'll still have traits but would not get a DX now.
I'm not saying everyone could do it and perhaps the severity of their impairments wasn't as bad as someone who would get a DX today.
But we'll never know will we?
