Can anyone help? DS2 is still refusing to do a poo in the loo or toilet chair though he's now almost 100% reliable and independent for wee. Someone suggested using the book 'Everyone Poos' - I've looked it up on Amazon and although there's 'look inside' facility, it only shows the first couple of pages. DS2 needs something very very simple and very direct - showing someone actually pooing on the loo if possible. Can anyone recommend anything?
TIA

Well a lot of horse boy time was spent in the van

My ds2 had a phase of needing me to put a nappy on him so he could go off somewhere private and stand leaning against something to do his poo. He was 4+ and at playgroup in the mornings only. One day he decided to go to the loo upstairs at home and do his poo up there in private. From then on that's what he did. No-stress toilet training.

He is 11 now and has just mastered flushing the loo so now I am totally uninvolved!

I love that book about the Mole, I used to laugh so much I couldn't get the words out!!

Well a positive update......of sorts. Have just caught DS2 in the bathroom, pants in hand, very carefully and seriously dropping bits of poo into the loo

Aww sphil,
great progress.

Not sure if this would help, but just an idea. My dd is 12 - pooing in the bath, and paddling pool in the summer, if I'm not quick enough. Her school, laminated a pecs sentance, saying 'POO IN TOILET' and 'NO POO IN BATH'. I have one by the toilet and another by the bath. They have worked well, not 100% but much better than before.

Might be worth a try. Funny my sil asked the other day why I had a sign up saying #poos in toilet' lol We just forget it't there, is quite normal to us!

Thanks Geri - I'll try that.

Great,
meant to add earlier, that it's on an A4 sheet of paper,(landscape), so a, 'big sentance', rather than a strip!

Good luck

I've just read this thread and can relate to what you are going through! My daughter has down's syndrome and has now cracked it- I was despairing a few years ago when she was smearing poo all over the house...I won't go in to any more detail! I only got through the whole toileting experience thanks to the help of a wonderful woman who worked for the local "incontinence service" (my hubbie called her the poo lady!) She was wonderful and came and held my hand and gave me advice when I was at my wits end. She also gave me drawings and a book about the steps of going to the toilet' ie...go to toilet, pull pants down, sit down etc which was helpful. Unfortunately I've no longer got it but if your area has an advisory service they might be able to help you. Failing that I've just bought some simple photobooks from this company, you could have a go at taking photos and making your own book! Good luck!

Thanks both of you. Geri - where did you get your PECs symbol for poo?

The problem with photos is that I think he actually needs to see the poo going into the loo from his bottom - and I can't see how to do that!
