The holidays seem really hard work!

Trying to keep both boys entertained isn't easy. DS1 (possibly ASD) has a bee phobia so I cannot get him outside if the sun is out. Tried to take them swimming today, but the pool was packed out due to the holidays & he couldn't cope with that. He just stood at the poolside & refused to move, while DS2 was wanting to get right in & enjoy himself. Don't know why I am starting this thread - just want a moan I guess! I see all the nt children of DS's age out & about on their bikes & it brings it all home a bit.

Poor you - I do also sympathise with DS1 as I have the same phobia and half of me dreads summer (even though I am a grown adult, with no particular SEN, I still run screaming away if I see one - not much use when you're a mum of two!). I wouldn't beat yourself up about doing lots of activities like we mums seem to feel we have to provide now in the hols - what's wrong with a DVD and a pyjama day I say! Lots of those kids out and about on their bikes are giving their mums hell from what I can see. Plus I can't remember ever being taken anywhere in the hols when I was a kid, but having to make camps behind the sofa with cushions. Big hugs!

I bought some insect repellent today which I hope may help. I guess you're right in that we do sometimes try to hard to entertain in the holidays. Just having a bit of a moment today as things that are simple everyday things to other mums, can be so bloody hard for me. Guess it didn't help when my mum tried to force him to swim today. He clearly couldn't cope with the pool being so busy & noisy.
