Funny things our children say

Took all three DS's to the Opticians today. We found out that DS2 (AS) is also colourblind! However the nice optician gave us an NHS voucher towards the cost of Transition lenses for his light sensitivity despite him only being a teensy bit long-sighted in one eye.

In the car on the way home DS2 said " I'm worried about going to high school with my red hair and glasses", his Dad replied "Are you worried about being bullied, to which DS2 replied "No, I'm worried about all the girls chasing after me" . Well no worries about self esteem there.

Any similar gems from anyone elses kids recently?

Er... now realise I may have been a bit insensitive in my thread title, knowing as i do that many people on this topic have DC's with language difficulties. Have at long last entered a phase where I seem able to let go of the angst a bit and enjoy the DS's (most of the time) but am sorry if I have upset anyone .

my dd has made me laugh this week as she has started playing the 'disabled card' - she's only turned 3 last week but has good language and has taken to asking for help for really easy things she can do herself - so we get 'daddy, can you bring me my teddy I can't do it cos I got cerebral palsy' with a cheeky grin on her face . Good on her we say, got to have some advantages. She got really narky with me earlier when I said could she get me something as I have cerebral palsy too (I don't) she was like ' no, only me got it, not you mummy!'.

I keep getting people saying how we shouldn't talk to dd about her cp as 'there's nothing wrong with her really' but we feel it's really important to be open and honest. (and it is cute hearing a 3 year old stumbling over the pronounciation of cerebral palsy )

DS2 has ok (ish) language, still babyish but we can make him out.

Yesterday he just stopped dead when we were out walking and when I told him to "hurry up" he replied "two mimits, I'n on a phone" . Imaginative play and some backchat all rolled into one.
