Diagnosis for ASD - which tests give better results.

It seems the ideal dx for ASD would be by a team of several different people that all have there specialities ie OT, SALT, paed etc. We do not live in the UK and haven't managed to find a centre here that does those tests and it seems to be done by one person only.
We had one dx done by a neuro-development paed who used CAIRS and DSM-IV which came back inconclusive - he was borderline on the CAIRS and did not meet the criteria for DSM-IV. Her feeling though was he may be ASD, ADHD or SLI. Throughout the assessment process though (8 in total) her feeling was that he wasn't ASD so didn't really learn much from this dx.
We have found someone else who is far closer who does different tests - she uses ADOS and ADIR. What are your views on the different tests that can be done.
Thanks
Ellie

ADOS is the best test around at the moment for asd as it is more interactive and looks at each child individually and I believe they play with them and then look at things such as eye contact, body language etc

Forgot to add that he is 2.6yr. I found that some of the q's asked during the assessments did not seem to take age into consideration and seemed to be more for older children.

I agree that the ADOS is good and it is the one that is most respected as accurate internationally.
