I can only say, atta 2 shoes! I was noticing with a groan this morning that DS's hair has grown again. DS hates haircuts so much, I was seriously thinking of using depilatory cream on his head instead (would that be illegal, I wonder)

lingle · 07/04/2009 15:27

LOL at haircuts. DS2 screamed the place down on the one and only occasion I've had him at the barbers so far. Previously, DH did them all and he wanted me to see how loud DS2 screams.

I've had some toy scissors (like the ones they cut paper with at primary school) out every day that I remember saying "snip snip snip" and trying to build it up. Best result so far has been him allowing me to do a countdown of "snips" including the hated back of the neck.

We'll get there - it may be another year but we'll get there.

I must be an awful mummy as I use bribery!!

Phoenix4725 · 07/04/2009 16:20

we spent 6 months just going to barbes to play for a few minutes each time , very good barber and slowly moved on to the chair etc he still does not like it a lot but will let him do but no water squirted on hair and no clippers or dryer an

That's lovely 2shoes!

Our hairdressers is local and especially for kids; the best thing though is the lady who cuts ds2's hair has 2 children on the spectrum so she has developed lots of tricks and if they don't work, bribery of course!

2shoestrodonalltheeggs · 07/04/2009 17:11

It cost me 2 books

lol bribery doesn't yet work for me. He screams through his lollipop!

MannyMoeAndJack · 07/04/2009 20:47

Ah, but with shorter hair, you need to cut it more often!!! Still, it will be easier to manage, less brushing, easier to wash and dry, etc.

I invested in a very good pair of clippers last year and I now cut my ds's hair myself. He is strapped into his Major and although he is very hesitant, he bears it well

2shoestrodonalltheeggs · 07/04/2009 21:18

she looks so lovely though and it will be so much easier for her care when she is away next week

DS had his cut at a hairdressers for the first time on Saturday - aged 7!

It cost me 6 gogos

Normally at home he screams and screams and screams - its horrendous. I was so proud of him I would have bought 100s of gogos - but didnt tell him that of course

2shoestrodonalltheeggs · 07/04/2009 21:55

what is a gogo

these

Only picture I could find! All other pictures were of the packets they come in. 3 per packet -99p Highly collectable!

These are the first ds has ever owned, some kids at school have some so as he wanted some the promise of zero packets for refusal of haircut, 1 packet for ok and 2 packets for excellent behaviour during haircut was a real incentive

I first learnt about them on MN too!
The evils of a MN addiction

Hi Yurtgirl,
Can't seem to make this link work properly

BR

Yurtgirl · 08/04/2009 13:46

Hurrrumph! Second time in two days that has happened - I will try again!

here

They come in packets a bit like sticker packets - 3 gogos with 3 stickers - to magnify the collectability Quite difficult to get hold of in local shops but easily available on ebay

Beware the "gotta catch em all" possibility - easy to get sucked into spending a fortune. Not that that will happen to us of course

Chocolatebunnyrabbit · 08/04/2009 14:51

WHAT THE HELL ARE THEY!!!

How big are they? It says you can balance them on a finger in the article. Are these something a baby can swallow?

No no I will not be sucked in, no way I'm starting to buy these. We'd have all 400 hundred before you know it. Ben 10 aliens are bad enough.

here

Of all the commercial stuff my kids could get into these are easily my favourite!! Suitable for 5 and up I suppose. Very solid unbreakable plastic but chokable I suppose -One inch high

Chocolatebunnyrabbit · 09/04/2009 09:12

mmm don't know about chokable but certainly chewable!

I have no doubt that it is inevitable and, as DS1 is in reception, one day soon someone will show him a go-go and he will 'get into' these.

ah well
