Today Dd1 broke DS' glasses on the way home from school, so because I knew his spare pair were at the shops waiting to be picked up, I decided to drop DD1 home and take Ds straight to town, to pick up his spare pair and get his normalone fixed again... anyway, in town there is about 4 disabled bays that are on the street and lots in Sainsburys, I decided to see if there was any on the street as its easier, and passed one just as someone pulled out so I decided to shoot round the block and get the space, as I came back, some young lad let his mate out and then parked in the only disabled bay left, I pulled up beside him and pointed to the Disabled signand asked if he was disabled and he said I'll be a minute and got out........ !!!!!!!! I was so annoyed I just sped off and parked in sainburys.... I was still angry when I got home, Dh saw a side of me he rarely sees.... I had driven round the block for sod all....... Wheres the traffic wardens when you need them???

how irritating, I would have double parked his car and kept on beeping till everybody stopped and stared

you could also get some of those nightmare-to-remove stickers and keep them in your car for just this purpose - write a suitably caustic message on it and stick it right over the driver's side window (in which case I would scarper very quickly indeed)

I'm with Twiglett. Put the "You want my space, do you want my disability too?" message on a nightmare to remove sticker and you're sorted. Stick it right int he middle of the driver's bit of the windscreen.

There really should be a "warden alert" phone number to call for this sort of thing - for all illegally parked cars in fact.

Actually, I'm curious - is there such a thing as "temporarily disabled" which entitles you to a temp badge? Just wondered about people who break legs or put their backs out etc.

Don't forget to ask for the stickiest, non-easy-peel labels they have

what kind of trouble can you get into???

I just wouldn't hang around after doing it, TBH

Not at all - you are simply offering a public education service. They can't get you into trouble because the were illegally parked in the first place. They'd be too embarrassed!

I think Twinkie confessed to parking in a disabled spot once and returned to find a huuuuuuuuuuge sticker covering her entire windscreen.

hehe....... though its not actually me thats disabled, its my son so I should put 'you want my son's space, would you like his disability too'

I am shocked that people know its illegal and yet still do it TBH> Sometimes you see the rare sight of a traffic warden in town, but not often...

they have new parking attendants nopw in town mieow. they are issuing fines. tbh the town was without traffic wardens for so long (18months i belive) that parking became a major issue).

and did u know that the QE2 hospital (local to mieow and I) has one of the worst cases of disabled space abuse in the UK. no wonder we cant get a space over there ever!

Hee hee - I did it!

Went to the supermarket today and as I was walking back to our car, this guy got out of a flash black sportscar parked next to us and walked off. Alarm bells rang after reading this thread so I had a look and of course, no disabled badge.

Went back into the store to ask customer services what their policy was. Girl was vague as the store is changing from Safeway to Morrisons and they don't know what the new policy will be. Said they wouldn't do anything about it but the new manager does want to introduce clamping.

Went back to my car and as I got in noticed a pack of A4 paper on the back seat, and I just thought f**k it. Scrabbled around and found a pencil on the floor and wrote 'if you will take a disabled person's space, will you also take their disability? Think about it' and stuck it right slap bang in the middle of his windscreen.

As I drove off I noticed people stopping to read it, some of them smiling. Hope he felt suitably shamed when he got back to his car .

"WELL DONE" Heartinthecountry. That has really made me smile.
Obviously not at the inconsiderate flash arsehole.
I just hope the arrogant pig felt so ashamed!
