Mothers day surprise

I often think that my ds life is not great because he has a sister with CF, epilepsy, speech and language etc etc.... and he gets left too much on his own. I am a single parent so he just has to get on with it a lot of the time as i am restricted to giving dd her physio and endless medication. I often beat myself up about it and how crap his life is as carer to DDD

Well this morning DS (aged 9) cooked me breakfast - bacon, scrambled egg, baked beans and hot chocolate. all on his own. Using the hob and grill. (we dont have a microwave) He laid the table, picked flowers from the garden and put all the cards on the table. Only then was allowed down. and yes he had cleared up before i got down as well.

I know that he is going to be fine in life now. He is a survivor. Apparently the first lot of bacon got burnt so he threw it away and started again!

Oh yes, I forgot to say he even let dd stir the scrambled eggs so was kind enough to get her involved.

And he was champion of the week this week at school and they were doing cooking. His teacher said he was so far ahead of his age in his cooking so gave him the weekly trophy!

To compete his fab week. He scored an amazing headed goal (he was the smallest player on the pitch) last sunday and received the player of the match trophy.!

Thats fabulous! He sounds lovely and you are so proud of him! You must have taught him well.
My ds (also 9) but with LD wrote 'mum' on his card today - all on his own (a huge step for him)! So 2 proud mummys.

that sounds great better than what my ds did for mothers day check out post though its will be one to laugh about in the future.

But like you i worried about my other ds doing to mucha sim single parent but my older 2 are 12 and 14 and everyone says how nice and caring they are and I think have siblings with sn does make them so much more tolerant and kind though not enough for them to help mum clean kitchen at 6am
