So after DS being admitted to our local hospital last weekend with his new absence seizures, thing have gone from bad to worse.

Thought he was doing better on Tues/Wed, but got called out of work on Wed am as he was just constantly in absence and something was obviously not right. So we ended up at Leeds which is where our consultant is and they confirmed that he was in status But how fantastic were they? They were amazing. An on call EEG arrived with 20 mins, emergency Lorazapam (sp) was administered via a canula and thankfully he came out. But then he turned into devil child for 36 hours as he must have reacted badly to the emergency meds!!

Anyway, they have changed his meds as they now think his seizures are focal rather than generalised. He has had two seizure free nights which must be the first time since October and is just having the odd short absence during the day. So we are back home now and I am a bit nervous about our first night away from the security of the ward. So a huge glass of red wine calls!

I don't know v much about epilepsy so can't really offer any helpful advice, but sorry to hear your lad has been unwell and you have all had such a stressful time. Hope that you all get a good night's sleep.

Really hope the new meds work for you. My DS has focal epilepsy too.
