We are in the process of choosing a school for DD2. She will be 2 in June. It looks like we will apply for Woodlands School in Leatherhead. Does anyone know what it's like? Also, I know of Brooklands and Palm meadow in Guildford but don't know anything about them.

email me at [email protected] and I will try and put you in touch with my freind. I am sure she knows one of those schools

I have spoken to her and if you email me I can pass on your email. she knows that area well.

My Godson is at Brooklands, and his family think it is marvellous.

My dd1 is at at special school in Kingston 2 days per week, and it id very good, and very loving and nurturing. She started there with a statement at 2.5.

I'm a parent governor at Pond Meadow. But will give the "unofficial" review if you email me - missusbandit at yahoo dot co dot uk

We are also in similar area, I like woodlands a lot but it is not suitable for DS as his is a mostly physical disability. However lovely staff, children and fabulous SALT for the nursery. Also have friends at Brooklands, they like it but I don't know much about it. Can't remember what dx your DD has but surrey has some excellent units attached to mainstream schools for a range of disabilities. These may be worth considering when your DD gets to that stage. We have gone for one and I am cautiously optimistic that we have got in.

Brooklands seems to be for the more profoundly SEN kids but has a superb reputation. Woodlands - know someone with a toddler there. It has a fantastic reputation and has the advantage that it does up to 18 (I think).

Sorry, only just managed to log on to have a look at the responses. Thank you all for replying.

2shoes and r3h3d I'll email you tonight, thank you in advance!!!

Hairymaclary - DD2 has SPD which has led to GDD, the gap is closing but she has a way to go.

I liked Woodlands as it was an assesment unit 2-5yrs and what I would like is for DD2 to be integrated into MS (with help) and attend a MS school with a SN unit attached (got my eye on one already!!). It's early days but this is where I'd hope DD2 would be at devt wise.

We also have the advantage to knowing the SALT and OT at Woodlands as we see them every week already.

Oh Mumgoingcrazy - we must be in a very similar area. I'm assuming you are talking about JOG - we only left in September - I might even know you!! I really miss JOG as it was so good for DS1 and for me too.

mumgoingcrazy · 20/03/2009 19:47

I think I know who you are? I only know of 1 person who left in Sept who's DS1 attended JOG!!

Are you Australian? DS1 (M) has the kaye walker and I had to bring DS2 (T) along with my homestart helper. Are you still at JOG? I've been trying to come back as a SCAMPPS rep but apparently all that has now changed as it was too confusing. I hadn't realised how great it was to reguarly meet others in the same situation as DS is in a mainstream nursery i'm all by myself. Hopefully though he is going to a unit so there will be other parents there in the same situation - even better - I know some of them from JOG! Good luck with your descision making.

mumgoingcrazy · 21/03/2009 11:31

No I'm not, you might not remember me as we hadn't been there very long before you left. email me on [email protected] I do know who you are, I was going to ask if DS1's name began with M!!

I know this thread was posted ages ago, but I am a substitute teaching assistant at Brooklands School, and without being bias, it is a brilliant school. They also have an assesment unit in the hope that some children will be intragated into mainstream school. The school has children with a wide range of SEN, but as someone else said, there are more children with profound needs. Having said that though, the headteacher is lovely and well worth having a chat with, and you are always welcome for a visit! I hope you find somewhere suitable for your DD!

mumgoingcrazy · 26/03/2009 19:33

Thank you aupair, it's good to have lots of points of view. Woodlands is much closer for us but it's still good to look at all the options.
