Boots and PE - is this a stupid idea?

DS (6) has started to refuse to do PE.

He is wearing lace-up boots for school because nothing else 'feels right'. Trouble is he can't do laces so PE is turning into a bit of a nightmare.

The teacher let me bring his PE kit home so I could change him here if that helps.

He doesn't want to do that and says he wants to do it in his clothes. They suggested that to him last week so it won't be a problem. He is really worried if he takes his boots off that the teachers can't do them 'properly'.

His teacher acknowledged yesterday that he really is worked up about his shoes being right.

Anyway, I was going to take him into school and suggest that I could pop in to tie up his boots after PE. I live two minutes round the corner and work from home so it is no skin off my nose.

Do you think that's a mad idea? I know that he'll feel much better if I do that

Thanks - I think you are right. The teacher said they would try first and let me know if there was a problem. She rang a little while ago and said they had sorted it.

It's so difficult to know what to do. I suppose I just want to make things easier as I feel terrible that busy teachers are having to accomodate boot problems!

The socks is a good idea. He is ultra sensitive about these too. He really likes his socks very snug so you have to sort of peel them off! We haven't bought him new ones for years because of this (he wears size 4-5 and they're tiny because of overwashing!).

Anyway, perhaps if I got some seamless ones in a smaller size, that might do the trick

I heard about an American company called www.softclothing.net and they say they sell through Amazon US and have polo shirts too so I might have a look at their stuff

Thanks for your reply!
