Shoes, bloody shoes!

OMG OMG OMG!!!!

Am I sick to death of bloody shoes and getting them 'just right' in the morning?

It took months to get the right pair for school. It took a while but I have basically got into a good routine before school in getting changed without rushing ds.

However, our downfall is always shoes. Sometimes (like this morning) it can take 30 minutes to get them how he wants them. There is just no factoring this in to the day!

The school shoes weren't right. The velcro wasn't tight enough, then it was too tight, then they 'felt funny'.

Ok, on to the boots. Same thing as we messed around with the laces.

Finally got them right after tears and screaming. DS2 was also in tears as he wanted to talk about bunnies and no one is listening - he's 3!

Get DS1 to school late. Teacher looks at me like I'm mad when I explain about shoe problem.

Have to take DS2 to nursery and he cries all the way as he's clearly been upset by the morning's shenanigans. We get there late and I have to leave him crying.

I know he'll be ok but what a crap start to the morning.

Tomorrow we are getting shoes on as soon as DS1 gets out of bed.

Now I'm supposed to do some work!

Sorry you have had such a terrible start to the day, hope it gets better!

My sympathy! Ds used to be dreadfully fussy with shoes. Fortunatly he is getting more able to sort them out himself to his satisfaction! Good idea to do it first thing. Good luck for tommorrow - and getting the work done!

A thought - I wondered if it's the socks that are part of the problem? We're rubbish at working out when something's not quite right, then we put shoes over the top of something that feels rough/uncomfortable and blame it on the shoes. Would different/thicker socks help, I wonder?

Socks are the problem here, as Amber says. DS (10, with AS) has to take them off, put them, take them off several times before they are "right". And they must not have any seams or threads inside to irritate; or be too tight...

Shoes can be a problem too as they have to be done up tightly but not too tight. It is a real pain because it always almost makes us late, no matter how much time I leave for it. So you have my sympathies!

I can't cope with a lot of different shoes at all. I mostly have to wear snug-fitting riding boots-type of things, otherwise all I feel all day are the shoes. Any boots that have a nice even overall pressure are great.

( I keep thinking this fred is calling me )

Thanks for the tip Amber. We have problems with socks too. DS is 6 and still wears only 2 or 3 pairs of 4-5 year old socks as he likes them snug! He too prefers nice snug boots

LOL 2shoes!
