Hi!

can you advise me?

I'm looking for a tricycle/ trike that would be suitable for my 21month daughter.
It would need to have a shaped/deep seat and a harness or safety bar, and preferably pedal straps, as she is not mobile.

I've looked at the usual bulk selling places (argos, tesco, etc) but the type I think we need is for smaller children (ie 1yr).

I'm sure she is fed up of being either in a pushchair or carried and I would like her to see the world from a different position!

Can anyone advise me?

Thx.

sn trikes are usually v expensive - in completely different cost league to what you'd get from argos or tesco. So if you are braced for this / have a case for and are prepared to battle for funding you could try tomcat or quest

Does you suspect yr dd has any physical disability? Does she have any diagnosis? These trikes serve more purpose than being another means to pushing someone about - like exercise, therapy etc which explains a bit the huge difference in cost. HTH

Has your DD got a physio? Ours is arranging for the trike sales rep to come to the child development centre so several kids can try them out.

Thank you for your replies.

Pixie - Tomcat looks like the sort of thing we could do with.

No funding yet - so we may have to dig deep!

Part of my DD diagnosis is hypotonia (lower body).

Yes we do have a physio - I'll mention this when we see her.

Cheers.

bsac, i just got granted the full amount from the Family Fund for ds tomcat trike, his was £1555 as he needs loads of support but they start from £695

we got the tomcat too. My dd is v small (about 80 cm) and its fine for her. When she got it last year she was just about big enough.

DD has hypotonia. Particularly her torso so she has the harness. Children Today funded us. When they send you a quote, tomcat send you a list of various organisations to apply to.

Tis good time of year to apply for family fund - before end of financial year (prolly pushing it to get quote tho - oh I dunno!)

Yeah - arabica is right to mention physio - usually they need to write some blurb on why it'd be a good thing in order for you to get the funding. Tho think you apply for ff and don't need to get any other bits filled in

All the best. They're ace

Family fund has a threshhold of £23K--if your family income is more than that, they can't help...which means we will have to look for alternative sources of funding. Got huge debts but they can't take that into account!
