Really confused as dd (Aspergers in SALT unit) has had 2 tests with 2 different sets of results. Her language unit have ranked her really high wheras the specialist school she visited have placed her quite low and the difference is quite significant. How can this be? Thanks

Did the lang unit do all the modules when they tested her? DS was assessed with a few of the CELF modules but not all last year - which obviously could have skewed the results (tbh I definitely think the results were too good with DS as it had him come out in the normal range).

/paranoia emoticon - sometimes I feel the state health/education system has a vested interest in minimising our kid's problems.....

this is the thread I did at the time, with some useful SALT input from posters.

Tests are rarely carried out properly and even whern they are, there is often a wide margin.

Finding this with my MSc at the moment, where, for reasons of accuracy, 2 people (ie me and someone else) score a child simultaneously on standardised assessment. Always a margin of error.

Can't really advise without seeing but does it make a big difference overall to decisions about placement and schooling?

If not,it may not be worth pursuing, but certainly ask SALT to sit down with you and go through it showing differences.
