I have been informed by my support worker that i may be entittiled to Respite for my son who is ADHD and recently diagnosed as being ASD with upto 24 days i was wondering if anyone one here knows more about it. Where my ds would stay ie foster parents, home ??? what is the process and how to go about it. i am from the north west of England.I think we will find it hard if he does qualify as we can't even get him to stay at his grandparents with out him kicking off. But both me and his dad are burnt out and i think this eventually would be good for both of us and his younger brother who is deeply effected by his disorders and the behaviours he displays as he is copying him and can come across the same even though i know he isnt and had to convince his school that he isnt.

not sure she mentioned that we are entittled to 24 days in the year but it is to give us a break and also to help my ds as well as break with others would do him him good in the long run and also improve his social skills

A social worker will come and see you and let you know what is available. They will also assess your son. The costs for all the above are from the social services budget.
