, don't you just love half term.

I have spent most of the day doing painting, play-dough, colouring and cooking, im running out of energy. Dd2 (ASD) has been stood on her little wooden table flapping and dancing for over an hour, i know (and she knows) that she shouldn't be up there but i'm fed up of trying to get her to understand 'down' and she looks cute .

What are you doing to keep your ASD children busy this half term? Its only been one day and i'm running out of ideas. Going out is a night-mare with both ASD dd's so we are pretty much stuck in the house .

done everything, painting, drawing, play-doh, dressing up, dvd, and my washing machine has just let out a puff of smoke and flooded the kitchen so now we're doing paddling and splashing and i'm doing crying, what to do for the rest of the week???

Oh no, i hope you can get it fixed , i flooded the kitchen last week by wedging a sock in the door of the washing machine .

I'm trying to pluck up the courage to take the dd's and the dog for a walk but i know it will end in tears as dd1 will refuse to walk on grass and dd2 will run off and fall over in a pile of mud (that's if we make it as far as the field without the dog tripping them over).

I have to be very brave to take dd out as she is a runner, a very fast one at that, so a tight grip is required at all times!! its so exhausting just doing things like going to the shops or the park, so i'm trying to keep her entertained indoors as much as possible, that said she also has the ability to completely trash the house in the time it takes me to make a cup of tea, never mind only 6days to go untill monday,i'll leave the house work untill then and suck it all up the hoover.

Mine are both trashing the house now, dd1 is jumping/diving onto the sofa and dd2 is still stood on the table and has realised she can reach the ornaments on the side.

-create an assault course around the house.
-memory game, object under a cloth, then remove one.
-throwing (preferably bean bag) into objects, start with bucket and box, then expand.
-get a water bowl, from paints (oil base) or cooking oil and swirl it round to make patterns, you can also try blowing over the water with a staw to make it move and put paper on top to create marble effect.

  • put different objects eg coin, cotton reel, stone cup cake container and take turns to see what they do in the water.

DD1 has been rampant. DD2 pottering. I am 31 weeks now, exhausted.

thanks for the suggestions jasdox will give assault course a go iam really stuck for things to do as dd has an attention span of about 5 seconds on a good day so we tend to go through activities at lighning speed!
