Hi, I am an OT student and I wonder if anyone could lead me to websites/groups, etc...that might be helpful.

The patient is effected by Hemiplegia after an accident as a child. Poor thing has had very bad bully issues and experienced lots of teasing and has a very low self esteem and is actually embaressed by the disability.

I suppose this person will really need councelling and was adviced to seek this...but I wonder if there is anything out there website wise/books, that might be helpful......

Fairlady, (waves!) I've had similar due to my disability, bad bullying, I now have 0 confidence in myself etc so I can understand. I think the main thing is just be someone who this person feels they can open up to, and the rest will hopefully flow.

yeah, this person really opened up yesterday which was great and is now wanting to do treatment and improve their life...so, hopefully that will really help anyway and is of course a very good sign...

oh, forgot about ouch...

thanks so much!

This persons story touched me so much...I felt like weeping....
made me realise how lucky I have been...not got a disability, but was born with a bilat. cleft lip and palate, but I was really lucky not to have experienced to much teasing,etc...

Anyway...greatful for any thoughts and links...
