SN children

Here are some suggested organisations that offer expert advice on special needs.

Can anyone recommend simple computer games please? I think DS is ready.

I introduced DS1 (4yrs old with GDD) to the ?Something Special? website and he really enjoys playing the Mr. Tumble dressing game (very simple just drag and drop clothes for mr. tumble). I am so pleasantly surprised, at the beginning I had to move his hand and finger in the right direction, now he is doing it with very little help and almost independently.

So I think it is time to make use of this new finding!!! Are there any easy computer games out there for preschool and/or SN children that any of you could recommend? I am interested in helping him with this numeracy skills, vocabulary and cognitive skills.

Thank you!

great cyber! we can look together then. If you find anything please let me know. I'm worried about getting something too complicated, that's why I'd like some recommendations.

What about a Vtech Smile?? My ds1 had one when he was younger. You plug them into the tv and they are really easy to use? The control can be changed to suit right or left handers and you can buy lots of different games for them.

the v smile is great- i have one for the dd's, they are 3 and 4. the games are really simple like match the colour or shape, or find the object, and the system is really easy to use. i would definitely recomend it.

Hi Tinysocks and Cyber

I cant for the life of me remember the name, but there is a site which is french (posting as may jog someones memory) I used to do it with Alfie when he was that age, very interactive.

I also have another in favourites will have a look now.

my ds has poor hand control but the vsmile baby is great, it has really big easy to press buttons and quite a good choice of games

these are quite good games if you want something to play on the computer, they are worked by either mouse, switch or touch screen

Great! Thank you. DS can match things already so I won't be interested in that but in games to help with his numeracy. He is really struggling with counting and general quantity concepts.

Does the v smile have games for this sort of thing?

Anything that can help with language would be great as well.

I've still got to buy a PC as we use macbooks and i think the trackpad is less child friendly than a mouse. Thanks for all the great ideas. I'll check out PC web sites tonight

Walk a pussy cat around a lawn with your mouse/fingers or a switch at:
www.sarahgreenland.com

Also an onscreen kaleidoscope and PreMouse for learning to use a mouse, touchscreen or switch.

Windows PCs only, sorry. You'll find these in the Downloads section.
