Hi,
My 19 months old dd has GDD due to birth trauma. She now walks but has speech and "play level" delays...
I am tempted to start her on supplement, like fish oil and omega 3, etc. and I was wondering if anyone can share stories if they have tried it.

thank you all

Started ds on fishoils at rising 3 and often wish I could have started them earlier because he did seem to subtly change. I do not know what caused ds delays so I do not know if it will help your dd but its worth a try if you can get it in.

Hi, my DS also has GDD (he is 4 now). He also started walking at 19months.
I tried the omega fish oils mainly to improve concentration but didn't see much effect.

To be honest, the best boy to help your baby is stimulate her on all levels as much as possible. Work with her everyday on her skills, and don't leave it just for the therapists.

I put omega 3 oil on the coating of fish fingers before grilling - and anything else I can sneak it on to.I also put lots of flaxeed flour in the breadmaker bread. Flaxseed is supposed to be high in Omega 3

When ds was 2 yrs old the GP and paediatrician said he was too young to have such supplements. We were told to feed him fish, fish and some more fish instead. Through diet you don't have to worry about overdosing, you get the right balance and also the co-factors to aid the omegas to work, plus a number of vitamins. A good substitute to fish are lentils (and walnuts assuming no allergies).

Sorry stillunderthirty, I'm about to do a little hijack. My DD2 is also 19 months with GDD. I bought fish oils for her ages ago but it's such a nightmare getting them into her. Tried disguising it in all sorts of food, even waiting for the last mouthful as if she even got a sniff of it on her spoon she'd stop eating straight away.

The fishfinger idea sounds good, does anyone else have any ideas. She does eat lots of salmon and sardines (luckily she likes it) so I manage to get some in her this way but would love to top her up as I can't see the harm.

Hijack over, sorry!! (very lealous of your nickname by the way, wish I could say the same [)

jealous even, not lealous
