Mainly for dd1 who has AS but as i was looking at the questions i noticed that most of the traits related to myself as well as dd1.

I thought most of the traits were just linked to AS, such as poor motor skills and finding it hard to understand people.

I've just looked up dyspraxia, and I do think that ds2 has this as well. Any idea where to get a diagnosis from? Do I need to go to docs to get an appointment with his specialist? Or should I approach HV/school?

Interestingly I've just looked at the list of symptoms and DD (speech and lang. disorder, no fixed diagnosis) actually ticks off far more symptoms of dyspraxia than she does of AS or ASD...Think I need to push a bit harder for an OT as no-one is listening to me at the moment!

They cross so much

DS2 is being assessed for ASD at mo and they think it likely that he has Dyspraxia rather than ASD. I think the reason is that he has issues with sensory integration. Is that what makes it Dyspraxia rather than ASD?

What is ASD? Is it a brain chemistry thing?

cherrymonster · 30/01/2009 21:43

what is sensory integration then?

my ds1 has dyspraxia and he has alot of aspergers traits - social issues etc. They overlap alot, although some dyspraxic children don't seem to have the social issues that my ds has.
