Can anybody recommend fish oils, pref. like a chewy pill but not as full of grot as the ones from Boots / Tescos?

TIA,
Brio.

I have tried everything but DS1 won't eat anything with that fishy flavour.

we use nordic naturals lemon flavour oil.

It does taste fo lemon, but is very oily and def tastes of fish afterwards.

I give it to dd1 along with a host of other stuff, all mixed up and administered via a 10ml dosing syringe, which, weirdly, she seems to like. Always asks for it, and reminds me if I forget.

I think nordic do a children's chewy capsule, but not sure as dd1 can't have the chewy ones.

Ooh, silverfrog, I've just looked on the internet and those chewy nordic naturals ones look just the thing...but I can't find anywhere outside of US that stocks them. Do you order over internet or do you buy them in UK?
Actually, DD would probably also take something out of a syringe - she's always loved the idea of "medecine" and used to try and steal DS's reflux medication when he was teeny tiny!

I will be trying to mix them up with pesto as he won't eat them otherwise.

I am going to USA next week brioche if you need me to get anything like this for you....

silverfrog · 29/01/2009 12:21

I use the syringe because dd1 has to have loads of stuff all mixed up - so enzymes, multivit, crushed tablets etc. dd1 won't take anything off a spoon (from me) and when we started was not drinking anything at all so couldn't put stuff in her drinks... But it goes down well, and she doesn't seem to care what it tastes like - and has stood us in good stead for the times she is ill!

I order from here. Probably not the cheapest around, but they do next day delivery and are always very helpful on the phone. I don't know whether they do the chewy ones, as haven't had to ask...

have you tried the eye q smooth ds takes that in his yoghurt i think it can be given without mixing though. dont think it tastes fishy as he always eats his yog yog so I dont get any

BriocheDoree · 29/01/2009 12:35

Thanks for the offer, Lingle . I think I might try Silverfrog's suppliers first because I like the idea of the Nordic chewy capsules (they do have them!). We're lucky with DD in that she's not fussy about what she puts in her mouth and will always accept anything that looks like a "bonbon"!

Also, DD likes fish - esp. mackerel - so hopefully slightly fishy taste won't put her off!

We use eskimo3 (oil for) kids in tutti friuti. Its not fishy but is a liquid. Needs refridgeration after opening. Tesco have started selling it so saves the long trip to the health store or an internet order. Ds likes it and is happy to have extra if we forget the day before!

staryeyed · 29/01/2009 14:20

We use Eskimo tutti frutti aswell. I didn't know Tesco does it.

magso · 29/01/2009 15:08

(Staryeyed - just started - may only be the xtra stores)

staryeyed · 29/01/2009 15:17

We have an extra store! I will have to look when we go in there next.
