Hi, I am trying to get my finances sorted and the question of Wills came up.

I have a ds with ASD (8)and a dd (10). I have done some research and the discretionary trust seems the most appropriate way to secure ds future.

Went to a Mencap presentation and am considering using them for trust. Probably use my own will writer. Anyone with any experience?

Don't expect ds will ever be able to look after his own money. Don't want dd to be responsible for ds finances - don't think its fair on her. Want whatever we can leave the dc's to be used the best possible way.

Thanks

Please do not use a will writer; you are far better off using a Solicitor.

Thanks for getting back to me.

Will writer is someone I know. He has a sister in law with learning difficulties so has some idea of the issues but not sure if he really understands all the compilcated implications.

Will try stalking hulababy and ask advice.

tibni - have advertised on other thread.

Is the will writer a solicitor? Be careful is a will writing company or DIY - you;ll have no insurance if it went wrong.

Thanks - no he is not a solicitor.

I know he has some professional accreditation and belongs to legal bodies - sorry haven't the paperwork in front of me. I haven't taken advice from him just got his general info.

I think a friend of mine was able to get money towards writing a will through Cerebra. I am not 100% sure but it may be worth a try.

Thanks, I will look into that
