DS2 has bene throwing up all day, so ds1 has been stuck in without enough attention- getting very naughty.

My mum and dad are coming later so I'm thinking of taking ds1 to the supermarket to buy coffee, sugar (he threw all the sugar on the floor yesterday) and milk. I won't go to Somerfield (local) as its always busy at 5ish, but I'm thinking if I drive to Sainsbury or tesco I can whack him in a trolley and even if he does kick off it won't matter.

bearing in mind I went to a supermarket with him in October and he refused to walk in the door, and the time before that was about 6 months prevoiouly and he screamed the way round.

I need t do something with him I think and can't think of anything else. So do I go for the educational experience or not? He'll enjoy the drive there and back anyway.

Go and see. If it is all too awful get back to the car asap.

After all this time his response may be different? You can try at any rate.

is there anything you could take with you/arrange to get that would "soften" the blow??

Fio2 · 05/04/2005 15:12

i think sometimes, you just have to grin and bear it. if you dont try you will never know

do you knoiw what i mean?

Fio2 · 05/04/2005 15:12

educational experience, are you taking the piss? sorry but every day is educational

Davros · 05/04/2005 17:01

LOL Fio!! Give it a go, on the basis that you can leave if you have to. TO get basic supplies you can always try a shop at a petrol station and lock him in the car (voice of experience!).

dinosaur · 05/04/2005 17:11

Good luck!

Jimjams · 05/04/2005 17:38

the petrol station tip- that's whjat I do!!!!

well burloody hell I don't know what they've been teaching him at his new school but he was an angel. He walked around (so by not going for almost a year we've broken the trolley routine). I had him on his harness and had hold of that and his hand. We filled up a basket- then he waited at the checkout (for quite a while as someon't 2 for 1 offer didn't go through). He then spotted some of his biscuits and kept putting my hand on them. Paid for them, fist then gave him one to east whilst paying. He stood there giggling because he thought having a biscuit was naughty.

I'm stunned- so aredh and my mum.

macwoozy · 05/04/2005 18:57

I'm really pleased it went alright for you. I know how much of an ordeal these shopping expeditions can be like. I'm going tonight but my little torpedo is def staying at home.

Wow! Isn't it brilliant when they totally surprise you?!

I've spent all day wondering if I dare take ds to the pictures tomorrow. I'm taking dd with her schoolfriends and one other mum and I can easily leave ds at home but I hate leaving him out all the time. Now you've been brave I suppose I've no excuse!

emmatmg · 05/04/2005 20:56

Awww, love the naughty biscuit thing, Jimjams

BTW, does he still like all the washing machine photos?
