Dd1 can be like this with doors. At the moment she has a thing about the pc going on standby, we keep the pc on all day, after 5 mins of not being touched it goes onto standby, dd is up and down all day touching the mouse and tapping the keyboard.

yep marne she did that to

one main thing we had was here she turned the tv on/off every minute no joking we had to get black tape and put it over the on/off button its a plasma and it would have broke.

i think its worse when they r off school and get bored etc

but its driving me mad

Yep, i have 2 of them, dd2 likes to do the tv, dd1 the pc, it drives me mad when they are up and down. We also put tape on our old tv, we have also taken handles off the cupboard doors to stop dd2 opening and closing them.

Ds has a thing about doors too- he cannot cope with closed doors, and likes them open just so! He also had a thing about thresholds - crossing backwards and forwards but seems to have moved on to other things now (he is 9). The flicking on and off of switches, constant tapping and jiggling and swinging on cuboard doors can drive you mad!

DS has a long-standing obsession with doors of all kinds, including dolls house doors, cat flaps etc. He is not classically autistic but has lots of ASD behaviours. Someone once told me that playing with doors is a regular toddler developmental stage, but that some SEN kids get stuck in it. It annoys others more than me. I think he does it especially when he is anxious - e.g. new environment, sensory overload etc. Now has branched out to other interests in later years, I'm pleased to report.
