to start dd,s desensitising programme for her phobia around toileting.

it went very well, they listened to us carefully and said they considered us the experts as dd,s parents and that they will take on board everything we tell them.

so, they are going to go to school next week and "make friends" with DD with some dora stickers and ITNG sticker book.

Then in 3 weeks time they want a hierachy list of things she finds enjoyable right up to things she hates, toileting being the no1.

they said its a gradual process,to prepare ourselves for upset and stress particularly as we work ourselves up the list and especially when the time comes to toilet her.

they are going to prepare school staff as well for her being extremely upset and how to deal with her and also they will be present and they will be present in our home for toilet training.

i know im going to be extremely upset by dd,s reaction and that we havent seen the full force of it (i welled up today when she said that to us) but as the psych said to get her over her fear she has to confront it and i know its best for dd,shes nearly 5 and although she has bowel problems they assure me that children can and do toilet train with bowel problems but they will take that into account.

That's great news (even tho its going to be upsetting for you ) and its lovely to hear them taking you as the experts on DD. It may be a long haul, but it will be worth it in the end.
Good Luck xx

good luck Jenk, I hope the support is good and the help they give you works.

My ds has been getting senna and lactulose to encourage his bowels... I only know it is tough, from my experience with my ds and learning to use the toilet (still not a 100%), we started July last year.... though he doesn't have accidents, he was terrified of doing a poo, scared of the hand driers... he is so nearly there, has even done a poo at my brother's house, in the toilet, for the first time ever!

I did think at one point he would never get this far!
