Should I try DLA again?

We have been receiving DLA since Feb last year, and when we were awarded it, we got the middle care rate as DS2 is still in nappies and needs help with other day to day things. I queried why we didnt get higher as all the other parents with ASD children got it. They had told me it was because he doesnt need help in bed . Then, he did get up several times a night, but happily played in the dark and stayed put.
Well now, for the past month or more he has been getting up, turning his light on and playing rather noisily in his room. He has also started venturing out at night, turning on lights, television, running taps etc...
Should I re-apply as his circumstances have changed, or is it pointless?
We had applied for mobility when he turned 3 last year, but got declined on the grounds he could walk (even though he ran into roads, out of shops, across car parks).
I'm at a loss what to do really. Has anyone ever re-applied because circumstances have got worse?

yes- re do the application. also, put emphasis on the fact that you have to watch ds2 like a hawk whilst you are out, you wont get the higher mobility rate but you should get the lower rate like i do. i get lower rate mobility and middle rate personal care for ds2, he has dyspraxia, poor co-ordination and poor motor skills. i have to watch him constantly when we go out.

We asked them to look at our application again for DS1 (severe ASD) when he was 3 and provided more evidence in the form of different reports and statements from professionals and this lead him going from middle rate care and no mobility to higher rate for both.

Yes, and we are doing the same- partly because ds3 now needs night care buta lso as he ahs reached the age where he can get mobility. NAS lady told us to reapply.

Enjoy the forms

I was able to manage him when he stayed in his room, as I'm a light sleeper anyway, but now he is out and about, causing havoc, and I'm bloody shattered!
I've got an 8 week old as well, so I'm getting very little sleep.
And to top it off, the little monster darling is off nursery as he has a dicky tummy, so bang goes my hour nap on the settee . Lots of caffeine for me today I guess.

You cannot get low rate mobility until they are 5 ( presumably because you can use a buggy or similar prior to that age). Once he is 5 your DS will definitely fit the criteria

I reapplied when DS was 5 and indeed got the low rate mobility, but was still refused high rate care, even though my DS has night-time seizures.

Yes thats right (am clariss btw).

DS3 was assessed for DLA the day before he rturned 5

couldnt face redoing before now
