Just spent two days in hospital with DS2 - acute asthma attack which ended in a 999 ambulance ride and 20 mins in the resuscitation unit until he was stable enough to go to a ward. It was very scary - he's had attacks before (and one that needed an ambulance) but this is the first time I've been really worried. It didn't help that our (lovely) GP was pacing the corridors of the surgery looking at his watch waiting for the ambulance to come.
Hospital staff were great with him though - one of nurses on duty has a child with AS and it makes such a difference. We were in a room on our own and they were so sensitive and helpful. I think having an autistic child with asthma AND a broken leg was something of a novelty!
