our comunity pead as been to see ds in school today for his aspergers and then we saw her at 1pm today, well this is what his teacher says to pead hes very bright to have aspergers andif he needs to talk he know he can and i think he would lol pead says well iv tried so have many others he wont talk to any of us ! then teacher goes on to say oh i think he may grow out of it (ha ha ha ) yes ds is very good in school and hes hiding it v well there but been told its cos of routines they have . then pead says was going to ask her to fill adhd form in but she decided as she know the teacher couldnt or didnt believe theres a problem.

so if the school is this bad or have they got dx wrong i really am trying to sort my head out here. are other schools the same? is your ds/dd same good in school?

My ds is the same in school and at home, but it's very common for as kids to let it all out at home after keeping it together at school.
The school must meet your child's needs and I would get in touch with inclusion support if they are as crap as they sound. Sencos don't have to have training to take on the role.Or you could, as a parent, apply for a statement -Atilla the Meerkat on here knows na lot about that.
You know your child best and the paed is infinitely more qualified than the teacher and senco to make a dx.
Trust in your feelings and keep kicking up a fuss because they are failing your child.
Good luck.

Well tbh I would be more inclined to believe the paed than the SENCO. Whilst the SENCO may be a very good teacher she is not medically qualified to diagnose any child, and saying that he is too bright to have AS is absolute nonsense (DS has AS and is amongst the top 5% of ability for his peer group rising to top 1% for mths ability) - which shows she knows not very much about AS. I would trust your paed who has years of professional training and experience in recognising ASD's. Plenty of children behave differently at school and at home - for my DS he behaves better at home, but loads of kids hold it together at school and then all the stress/anxiety is let out at home so their traits become more evident.
