Anyone else been foolish enough to apply for DLA on-line?

I've been doing DD's DLA on-line - a bit a night for what seems like months! The service is so unreliable - today I just want to go on and finish it off but the service is really slow and won't log me on - I phoned and they said that it's just due to too many people trying to use the service.

Also, on the paper form there is a section 24 - 'Help the child needs when they go out in the day or evening'. For some reason this is not on the on-line form at all. The help-line woman was no use and just said to try and fit it in somewhere else in the form .

So frustrating... but need to get it sorted.

didn't even know it was possible (idly wonders whether this will spur me on to actually fill out that damn form... then re-reads babylon's post, and puts off the dreaded deed once again)

sorry, not much help.

one question - what do you do about the bit which is for someone else involved with your child to fill in (the supporting statement bit)? do you just supply contact details?

Ha ha! it is kind of quicker and you don't have to worry about fitting it all into the little boxes but it only works if the system can actually handle the number of people using it! My dd's dla runs out at the end of March but I've been told they have around a 15 week wait on decisions at the moment so I have to get mine in soon.

I had a look.
Then I ran away.
Sorry, not much help is it?

i di mine on line back in october. it was great, i did the form in one night, 8 1/2 weeks later my award came

bullet123 · 12/01/2009 14:07

Aaargh at the 15 week wait. I was told it would be 11 weeks back in November.

madwomanintheattic · 12/01/2009 14:18

15 weeks? which office? if you say blackpool i may have a sense of humour failure...

i made an enormous mistake and didn't change my address when we moved and so missed our renewal pack... suffice to say no DLA has been paid since september and we are still awaiting decision as it had to go through as a 'new' application...

i know it was my own fault, but you have no idea how skint i am...

pleeeease tell me 15 weeks was a joke?!

to the OP - tried it once and didn't like it lol - gave up and used the paper version.

I downloaded a dla form on line (it has section 24) but once filled in, printed out and posted it. That way you can type in your answers, ( so no struggling with impossible handwritting) modify, save do bits on a laptop ( well if I had one!)The only problem was the lack of a spellchecker (I really cannot spell)!.

i filled dd's out online, did it over about a week and didnt have too many problems, couldnt log on once but that was it.
just wondered as this is the first time i'd filled out the application, do they automatically send a form out when the award runs out? also can you re apply online, or does it have to be the paper form way?

Marne · 12/01/2009 19:08

I did both dd's online and had no problems, i did do it over 2 days though as it seemed to go on forever .

Hangingbellyofbabylon · 12/01/2009 22:06

I still can't get it to open up my file I'm working on - is slightly driving me mad now as I've basically finished and just need to check through and add a few addresses and stuff. . I'll phone again tomorrow and no doubt they'll tell me it's cos too many people are using the service.

Our local Citizen's Advice Bureau has a lady that comes in to help people with these applications. Suggest you go to your local CAB and see if they will help you. They can give all sorts of advice about what to put on the forms.
