Boiler broke down, -3 degrees with no heating or hot water.

Car got puncture on the way to my first (12 week) scan.

Wheel nut snapped off when DH tried to change tyre, 45 minute wait for recovery, car to garage, £150 bill.

Missed scan.

Leak through living room ceiling from bedroom this afternoon.

Engineer has just left and it will be 2 days before they can fix boiler, so we are going to freeze and I have no idea how I am going to hand wash DS1.

On top of all this really worried about DS2's surgery on the 27th and just received another hospital appointment for the 15th to see his a consulatant about surgery for his undescended testes.

What a start to the new year, I hope this isn't an indication of what our year is going to be like.

Just so glad I got good news with the DLA award letter today, without it I think I would be a crumpled crying heap in the corner.

Where's the chocolate??

han then mybe run in bedrooms before kids go to bed hen least they can not be fiddled with ds out family size bar along with big hug.

can you ask friends family if they have aany plug in heaters that you could borrow ,

SixSpot · 07/01/2009 17:29

Graciefer - well done for being still standing! And congratulations btw - I had missed the fact that you are pg!

Is this DS2's heel release surgery? Can I ask if there is any reason in particular why you are worried about it? Obviously my DS2 had it (the one with talipes) and I was worried about it but it was really very straightforward.

sphil · 07/01/2009 18:30

Blimey Gracifer - what a day! Had also missed the pregnancy news - congratulations!

Graciefer · 07/01/2009 18:32

Thanks for the hug Phoenix, unfortunately my MIL gave away several brand new gas filed plug in heaters for DS1's school fair for raffle prizes and no one else seems to have any. Long johns all around I guess.

Hiya Sixspot, it isn't DS2's heel surgery, he had that done what seems an age ago and it was indeed very straight forward.

Unfortunately DS2 has breathing problems/obstructive sleep apnea and because of this had an overnight oxygen saturation monitor done recently and the results were worrying with him getting done to 50 something % at points in the night.

He has been referred to a couple different chest & ENT specialists and they have decided that they want to remove his tonsils & adenoids and hope this will cure it (his tonsils are huge apparently, this coupled with narrower airways and floppyness because of his Downs Syndrome mean he is struggling to breath). If not he will have to sleep with a mask, supplying oxygen to keep the airways open, like sleep apnea sufferers sometime wear.

I am worried because although he is 16 months old, he still hasn't doubled his birth weight and is just a scrap of a thing. Apparently his lack of weight gain is down to him using up all calories trying to get enough breathe at night.

They want to keep him in for at least 2 nights, first night on the high dependency ward.

I know this is just a routine operation, but he is so small, I really worry about him.

Thanks Sphil, happened quicker than expected but I am pleased.

I do keep getting premonitions that I am expecting twins though

What a day!!! Hope you get the heating sorted pretty quickly.

Congratulations on your pregnancy. Twins!? Now that sounds like fun!

nikos · 07/01/2009 21:20

Are you able to say what area you are in? I have a plug in heater in the garage and am in the north east

nikos · 07/01/2009 21:21

Just looked at your profile and realised that you could hardly be further away . Sorry you are having a hard time at the minute.

cherrymonster · 07/01/2009 21:39

Graciefer- where abouts are you?

sphil · 07/01/2009 22:41

What age gap will you have between DS2 and the new baby?

Graciefer · 08/01/2009 17:14

sphil DS2 will be around 22 months I think.

Been to scan today, dates where spot on and there was only 1, so no more waking with cold sweats, hehe.

Everything seems fine, although hard to tell as apparently I have a tilted womb which made scanning very difficult, although I have never been told that with the previous two.

nikos that was very nice of you to offer, thanks for thinking of me anyways. Luckily I telephoned DH cousin of the off chance last night and she phoned around her friends and family and brought me down 2 halogeon type heaters at 10.30pm, which were an absolute godsend.

I will never take central heating for granted again and really hope the boiler can be repaired tomorrow.

cherrymonster I am in South Devon, but I am guessing you are asking for the same reason as nikos. If so, thank you also so much for thinking of me, it is loverly that there are so many nice people out there in the land of MN!

Congratulations and glad scan was all OK! Hope your boiler gets fixed tommorrow - ours was out of action for 36 hrs (frozen condensing pipe) and ds (LD/ASD) could not cope with wearing a coat inside!

Thanks Tclanger.

Good news, the NPower man has just left and we have hot water & heating again, yayyyyyyyyyyy!

I found a fixed price deal online with NPower so was quoted £200 before they even looked at my boiler, he replaced 4 parts and repaired 2 leaks, so I think I really got my moneys worth.

Off to fight DH for first dibs on the tub now, heheh.

Thanks Graciefer - oh, poor little DS2 - that sounds very hard for him. Will be keeping everything crossed for you and him on 27th.
