Cold weather payments are made to people who are in receipt of at least one of the following for at least one day in the relevant week:
? pension credit (but who are not living in a care home)
? income support or income-based JSA and have a child aged under 5 living in their family
? income support or income-based JSA and have a child for whom they are entitled to child tax credit including an amount for disability or severe disability
? income support or income-based JSA and have one of the following premiums included in their applicable amount: disability, severe disability, disabled child, pensioner, higher pensioner or enhanced pensioner premium

Does anyone know of any utility providers (gas/electric) which give you a lower rate for just being in receipt of DLA and no other benefits?

Clarissimo · 07/01/2009 12:52

Have been looking but can only find confiormation that londoners get it

temp here predictd to rise to 1 for maybe an hour which negates today from their calculations (-11 last night though)

Graciefer · 07/01/2009 18:53

I thought it was based on a weekly average Peachy?

Phoenix4725 · 07/01/2009 18:57

no sadly u need 7 days in row below freezing ,

Graciefer · 07/01/2009 19:13

No I mean, that it is an average of 0 or below for seven consecutive days.

I took that to mean if it is -11 at night and say +3 in the daytime, the average for that day would surely qualify.

Or have I totally misunderstood?

I always hated averages, mean, median, etc.

cherrymonster · 07/01/2009 21:22

it is the average temp- i think they check it every hour and work out the average each day. if the average is below freezing for seven consecutive days they pay up.

Clarissimo · 07/01/2009 22:05

yes sorry- what i meant was although its been - for several days, going to -11 last night (had a dh out in it on nights poor sod) today ahs averaged as 1 degree
