Thanks for messages last week. Saw ENT chap this week who thought audiologist had gone mad & is sending us off for grommets in a few weeks time. Is then referring us to a different audiologist, cos once you lose faith in a pro, it's hard to regain it.

That's great, you knew all along it couldn't be right!

Will DD have her adenoids removed at the same time?

Good news, I bet you are relieved. xx

That's good. They might want to repeat the hearing tests before grommets go in though. Otherwise you won't know if it's improved anything or not.

Just curious, do you have a link to your previous message. My son's audiologist is lovely. What tests did your child have. Usually they can work out what type of hearing loss a child has from a bone conduction test.

Hearing aids can be a really good way of compenstating for glue ear. The advantage of them is that their is no need for GA and no risk of scarring to the ear drum. The child doesn't have to wait so long either. The downside is that hearing aids aren't quite as effective as actually removing the gunk, also its quite a challenge to get a small child to wear them.

Although the reason that my son had hearing aids was that his grommets were a complete disaster. It is rare for grommets to go wrong though.
