haven't really got anything beyond the obvious to suggest, such as blackout curtains/co-sleeping etc. Not sure if essential oils such as lavender are contraindicated with epilepsy, have a feeling they may be.Sorry I can't be more help.

Got blackout blind, he sleeps in bed with me, just dunno wat else to do, can't bear another night of practically no sleep for Jack and myself

does he watch telly? could you bring telly into bedroom so he can watch it and you can snooze? sorry I'm not helping as you will have I am sure thought of all the obvious things.

is he allowed Piriton or medised - both have drowsy properties and last about 5/6 hours for my DS?

mummyto2miracles · 21/12/2008 19:34

he is allowed pirton as he has hayfever, but too young for medised, totalchaos, he does love telly, tried putting on "in the night garden" its his fave lol in bed but he stays up so he can watch it lol

Just want to let you know that Piriton is contraindicated if you take epilim and certain other drugs. It isnt necessarily dangerous but the epilim dosage needs to be adjusted (reduced) by a Dr. Your pharmacist should NOT sell/prescribe hayfever remedies if on anticonvulsants. (You can use the older type hayfever meds, begins with L I think-sorry I cant remember the names!!!! but with caution). Have you tried melatonin? Doesnt always work but its worth a try. Fortunately the body does get used to less sleep-its just hellish whilst you are re-adjusting! My son has Angelman Syndrome which inc epilepsy and a (no) sleep disorder so I do understand how you feel. Try a good dose of calpol and the usual warm milky drink etc etc?

feelingbitfestive · 21/12/2008 21:07

No advice, but sooooo pleased to hear he is a bit better xx
PS - have been known to give a little dose of calpol to send our little nightmare off to the land of nod. Doesn't keep him asleep but is usually enough to tip him into it if he's fighting it (which he usually is) IYKWIM!
