Car Seat for 2 yr old who can't sit

Ds2 has dx of development delay and cp.
Basically sitting for any period of time is HARD work for him.
We currently have a Maxi Cosi Priory XP with a three point harness, 3 recline positions and a lot of padding.
He still HATES his car seat though and his (mid to low) back'll look sore after any journey that takes a couple of hours.
The SW has suggested the In Car Safety Centre as a place to get a more suitable seat for him, but I'm struggling to see how any of the seats on here offer him any more support than the one we have.
So may I just ask what everyone else has? I'm dreading the Christmas trek "oop North" already.

ds has the JCM adapted Recaro, expensive at around £800, which should be covered by SW, but good value as it lasts till they are around 11 years old, its suitable from 9 months so should be fine for your wee chap

comes with different options, his has a velcro harness which is like a broad band around his body, a padded neck support and a groin strap. he sits great in it, before when he had a regular car seat he would flop to the side or end up bent double as his tone is low in his trunk and neck

ds has the velcro waistcoat harness, not pictured on the brochure, the flexible trunk supports which are, are really only suitable for when they are a bit bigger as you need to put the backrest up quite high to fit them and ds at 4.7 is still too small.

They also do the Carrot seat, which looks a bit mad, lumi orange, hence the name

delichon also do their version of a recaro with a 5 point harness

other options are the Britax traveller, which you can add extra padding to, but think this only comes with a 5 point harness, although i could be wrong.

Brilliant ideas! Thank you. Wish you could put them through the cry test first!

Speaking as someone whose uncle has a HUGE Recaro seat on his wheelchair, they are very good for support. I know it's not strictly related, but thought it might be worth saying His seat reclines etc and gives him the support he needs (he's tetraplegic). HTH in some way.
