just finished filling in the DLA renewal but have got a bit stuck on one part of it.

where it says "how many times a day does the child need help" at some sections i have been putting "thoughout the day" or "all day"

what do i then write in the "how long it takes each time" when its asking for how many minutes???

i have looked at the cerebra guide but it doesnt seem to cover this scenario?

Thanks for that link electra. I have to do my renewal.

glittery I always write 24 hours every day all the time.

A SW explained to me that all they do with those bits is try and calculate the number of minutes- this brackets you into different bands for care rates - so you have to be careful that you don't do yourself a disservice by giving the idea you have hours off when you can file your nails/put your feet up/read a magazine/have a cup of tea. If you're constantly on call it's 24 hours and needs to be counted as that number of minutes!

Getting up at night doesn't count unless each waking is 20 mins or more. (So 15 lots of 5 minutes up each time doesn't count as getting up at night ) whereas 1 x 20minute wake up will.

I hated that aspect of the form. I felt I had to be as accurate as possible and tied myself up in knots thinking how much to deduct with the help with communication when Ds1 was eating or playing by himself. In the end I put down eight hours a day and then explained it was really an all day situation and I had put 8 hours to show it was a significant part of the day.
We asked them to look at it again as we want to claim low rate mobility for Ds1, there's an 11 week wait and I am a nervous wreck waiting for it.
