We manage to get middle rate for dd1 (as) last month, we were refussed mobility even though dd refuses to walk on certain surfaces and strugles to walk faster than a snails pace. Anyway we waited 10 weeks for a reply, we were pleased to get middle but it says that we have to renew it in 4 months ,it was backdated for 2 months so that means in 2 months time i have to fill the forms in again

Why have they only givin it to me for 4 months?

It will run out on dd's first birthday.

We claim for dd2 and hers says 2 years until we renew it

Is dd1 coming up to her 5th birthday? 5 seems to be a popular cut-off age as that's when you can get lower rate mobility.

Otherwise it generally seems to be random ages. Ds1 was first awarded DLA at 3yrs old, to be renewed at 7yrs old. Ds2 first got DLA at 2yrs old, to be renewed at 5yrs old.

i've lost my ds4's mobility, asked them to look at it again but it was still refused, he went from high to nothing. dont get me wrong he is a lot better but i expected low rate as he can walk, just usually 2 steps forward 1 step downwards lol. do you have to do all the forms again or just the mobility bit, i honestly think it all depends on who does your assessment and what kind of mood they are in at that time.

Yes she will be 5 years old, hope it doesn't get changed for lower rate as i was hoping to get mobility for her. I dont understand why we dont qualify for mobility (lower) as she refusses to walk, hates the sound of traffic and suffers from anxiety. Will the fact that we now have a dx help?

Im not looking forward to filling in all the forms again .

I think low rate mobility is only available from 5th birthday, high rate from age 3. So perhaps that is why it needs review on her 5th birthday.

You might even find that the rate you get goes up as your child gets older. Ds1 was awarded middle rate when he was 3 but when it was renewed at 7 it went up to higher rate care and lower rate mobility. It wasn't so much that he needed a lot more care than when he was younger but presumably because the gap between him and other children of his age was now much wider IYSWIM.
