Managed to get a place on the Early Birds course in Jan but i was late signing up and missed the meeting/information day. Can anybody tell me what to expect? I have been told they will want to video dd1 at home, is this rite?

I'm doing earlybird+ at the moment. They don't video this agegrpoup but i believe they do on earlybird. We are finding it invaluable, if only to be sharing the course with other parents. I'm finding it very relaxed - no hard pressure or criticism, just very supporting. I'm off to work now, but I'll check back later for more advice.

Ring the course organiser if you
need more info - they should be happy to explain.

Marne, we done the earlybird course in June/July, and it was fantasticly helpful. There are 4 video sessions, which I found invaluable, as you can see what you are doing "wrong", what you can improve on, and also what a fantastic job you are doing!

The course itself gives you great hints and tips on how to help your child, how to manage behaviour, and how their behaviour is perfectly normal and not to be stressed about it. You get a book which you get to keep, and other helpful stuff.

Good luck fo it!

Thankyou, it sounds like it will be a great help to us (having 2 dd's on the spectrum), im hoping it will help with dd1's food issues and help me to understand dd a bit more. I hate seeing video's of myself so not looking forward to that bit.

Widemouth- is the early birds+ the course that teachers can atend too? Dd's teacher doesn't realy know alot about Aspergers/ASD so could benifit from going on a course.

Yes, we take my DS's TA on the course. It has been very useful in helping her structure his school day, using visuals, and just understanding a little more about autism. Earlybird + is for 4-8 year olds.

You should enjoy it. It really does normalise the behaviours that we cope with day to day which i have found very reassuring.
