as far as i know you can only get tax etc included if you get higher rate mobility and use that to get a DLA car!

Not sure about it having to higher rate mobility.

But I do know for sure that you don't have to have a mobility car in order to get free disabled car tax, as I have it and I don't have a mobility car (although DS1 does get higher rate mobility).

I will see if I can find out if you are still eligible with lower rate mobility from my paperwork tomorrow, when I get back for hospital with DS2.

If you're a disabled person you may not have to pay vehicle excise duty (car tax) for a tax disc.

Who is eligible

You may claim exemption from vehicle excise duty (road tax) if you're getting one of the following:

  • The higher rate mobility component of the Disability Living Allowance
  • The War Pensioner's Mobility Supplement

Taken from www.disabledinfo.co.uk/dis/51-car-tax-road-tax-vehicle-excise-duty-exemptions-fo.asp

So looks like unfortunately you do have to be in receipt of higher rate mobility.
