Am off to Bibc next week (29th March) and more advice or things I should know?

Well it is just over a week away until our visit to Bibic and I have a mixture of being really excited and apprehensive all at the same time.
I know there are a few of you who have been and just wondered if you had any more tips of bits advice to prepare me before I go.

Yes I know it's not going to be a holiday as such Jimjams. Everyone keeps saying "oh a lovely break!" That's not what I am expecting and I can expect keeping up with the dietary is going to be hard but I am prepared to do it.
Has anyone stayed in the bungalow as we are and I wondered what it was like. Thanksx

It's definitely not a break!!

I didn;t stay in the bungalow but everyone I met who did seemed to think it was fine- basic(ish) but fine. And everyone is very friendly. They even let ds1 go into an out of bounds area to look at a hoover!

Do you think I will get anything out of Bibic though? I still think dd's main difficulties are sensory and I am hoping they will help with the fingers in ears and sometimes eyes, that she does!

Hi.

Have been to BiBic many times as I live nearby and used to link to them when I was working. Also going to refer my son there soon for Aspergers.

I don't think I need to give you advice really as they are quite prepared for anything!!! They are really warm and friendly, so effective, and in fact what I would say is don't worry- you are so doing the right thing going there.

Bloss....we will chat at some point over the weekend about things you need to take with you....the bungalow is like a 1960's holiday chalet but is very comfortable even though basic.

Make sure you take your swimmies with you.....the pool is fantastic and so relaxing after a day of assessment.

I'll email you list of things you will need to take for in the bungalow.

Hope it goes well BH.

I took extra drinks in as they only serve water or pineapple juice.

The playground is nice. Try to get dd settled well at night as the course is very tiring. My ds fell asleep during one of the assessments.

Did they dx or did you know anyway beforehand???

We had a dx at age three, but I asked for a CARS test (test for autism} to be carried out as I felt he had improved on his original dx of [classic] autism.

We also felt that his problems were very much tied up in language and memory and wanted some ideas of how to proceed re schooling.

Beetroot - you haven't met dd have you ??? She is a little whirlwind!!!

Maddiemo - So did his dx change?? I think we are having a CARS test done and I am very nervous but need/want to know.

I am worried that they are going to observe me playing with dd. I am fine of course playing with my daughter as do it all the time but when I had to do it for the Hanen programme I froze, felt so unnatural and I didn't feel comfortable at all.

They didn't change his dx as the autism dx still stood but he was in the range of mild autism rather than moderate/severe.

I think, but could be wrong that the CARs test tends to be for autism rather than autistic spectrum. So for the more classic or severe end of the spectrum. It is not the test that my cdc do which I think is DISCO.
