could you not 'jazzy it up' a bit - ooh tinsel's lurvvvvely this time of year.

needmorecoffee · 25/11/2008 17:33

its a Jenx standing frame with s stupid wooden dinosaur on it. here
Its huge and ugly and I wanted an R82 pony cos the 'footprint' is smaller.
And why oh why is there a wooden animal on it? The child can't see the bloody thing.
I hate it and am going to put it outside grumble moan complain

ODL that truly is awful, I can see your point [vomit icon]. havent had a chance to google the pony one, but surely it has to be better than that monstrocity!

needmorecoffee · 25/11/2008 18:04

Its brightly coloured too. Reckon I should chop it up for firewood.
I know I should be grateful etc but I hate fucking SN equipment. Its all so ugly and HUGE!

misscutandstick · 25/11/2008 18:06

wow, just found the other one, - !!!

even DS3 (NT 9y) got all excited about that one!

misscutandstick · 25/11/2008 18:08

forgot to leave the link for it.

Agree about the firewood, doubt truly tho that the other would burn - just to add insult to injury you on its way out!!!

2shoes · 25/11/2008 18:10

what an odd looking thin.
dd has a massive frame. but we never had odd animals on ours.

2shoes · 25/11/2008 18:12

the pony one is a walker not a standing frame.
at dd's school they are trialing powered standing frames.
they look so cool.

needmorecoffee · 25/11/2008 18:16

maybe it was the rabbit that was the standing frame. which led to lots of ribaldry at the paediatric ehibition and a very red face from the R82 guy. Honestly, my freind, you cant take her anywhere

TotalChaos · 25/11/2008 18:46

the standers on misscutandstick's look more slimline and sleek. that huge dino is weird, like they wanted to make it look like a giant toy!

Mitchell81 · 25/11/2008 18:48

www.adaptivemall.com/lectotstan.html DD used to have this stander and it is very small, can you ask for another one?

needmorecoffee · 25/11/2008 19:08

they give you what they've got in the cupboard unfortunately.

OP posts:
misscutandstick · 25/11/2008 19:11

thats all there is for it then...

BOMB the cupboard!

misscutandstick · 25/11/2008 19:13

thought just occured to me, exactly how old is this cupboard? is it inside a large boat perhaps???

needmorecoffee · 25/11/2008 19:16

hahahahaha

did you see ds's, i stuck the pic in my profile its a leckey squiggles and can be used prone and supine, we use it supine with a head band as his head control is appalling.

It comes apart in 2 pieces and the bottom part of the frame folds over on itself flat for storage/travelling so we'll probably take it on holiday this year too.

glitteryb6 · 25/11/2008 20:08

heres the leckey website www.leckey.com/template.asp?parent=96&pid=252&webArea=1

lourobert · 25/11/2008 20:33

ds has the jenx standing frame with a whale on the side of it.....its huge and it gets in the way and I get umpteen bruises from kicking it but DS does love being in it. Once he gets a bigger room its going in there where i cant see it whilst watching tv....!

you should see the size of the bath aid the OT is trailing tomorrow!!!

needmorecoffee · 25/11/2008 21:01

nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
When dd is at school full time we can ditch the standing frame as she will stand at school. Having said that I have not read one scientific paper saying standing prevents hip surgery.
Equipment is just enormous. Fuck knows where you're meant to put it all!
They tried to give us a mobile hoist. No way. I want a ceiling one cos then at least it tucks out of the way.

OP posts:
needmorecoffee · 25/11/2008 21:02

and I am sat here hating it. Its in my wheelchair space. My wheelchair is in the car. When we take dd out there will be a short game of musical equipment and swearing.

OP posts:
feelingbitbetter · 25/11/2008 21:09

i'll be honest. My initial thought was 'how ungrateful!' but having seen it - dear lord it isn't pretty. Can you 'damage' the dinosaur bit so it has to come off? I'm sure it'd look (a bit) better without it.
I think they look much better if they don't try to dress them up as a toy.
But, it is a standing frame, all the same. Better than nothing.........?

madmouse · 25/11/2008 21:52

eeeek

you must be able to object on the basis that this is bad for dd's psychology or something

that is beyond hideous

the surgery almost killed her?
Its the tight muscles forcing the hips out of the socket. The adductors are contracting and depite standing every bloody day its still happening.

We were told standing is good for DD organs and helping with bone growth etc. We now don't have a stander at home and DD only uses one at school and it is huge. Very pleased we don't have one anymore as all it was doing was gathering dust, much better now the school do it.
