Omega 3 for asd - help

Have been advised by dietician to give DS1 Omega 3 as he is veggie & has a very restricted diet due to ASD - will only eat a very small range of food. Problem is can't find one he will take. Has to be strawberry flavour & not taste or smell of fish. Any ideas? Another Mum recommended boots own liquid but he hates it. I feel like I'm torturing him making him take this

you can get all sorts of food and drink with omega 3 in - bread, yoghurt drinks, marge, orange juice etc. obviously not as good as having a set dose, but better than nothing.

Well eskimo kids has a nonfishy mild fruit flavour as ds copes. Keep in the fridge once open - it has little smell. It is not veggie though!

Never heard of Eskimo Kids - where do you get it??

Good health food shops or the internet. Its quite a good one I think. Bit pricey though but worth it if it helps. Ds is very 'smell fussy' too we had lots of experiments before finding what worked for ds. Refridgeration helps too with reducing smell - keeps oil fresh which is essential. Ds likes orange jelly ( multi vitamin +dha) 'sweets' too cant remember the make - but there is a red one I think.

Boots do one in a milkshake flavour.

Alternatively DS1 wouldnt do fish oils at all, so we moved on to flax seed oil. Holland and barrett can advise on these usually and I found it easiest to break the capsule and add to things as no risk of dodgy taste.

Sainsburys do a vegan omega capsule, probably not as high dose but better than nothing I imagine.

DS takes "Bassets soft and chewy" Summer fruit flavour. I can taste the fish in them, but he says they are yummy. However, I am convinced they make him hyper if he has them in the evening. They have quite a long list of ingredients, including "brilliant blue", but no Enumbers.

Thanks for all the tips - didnt know about the fridge part so will give that a go. This could be expensive by the time i find one he'll like......

I use Eye Q citrus flavour and mix it with his fruit juice first thing every morning. I don't think they do strawberry but if you can get him to accept it as juice, it might be worth a try.

I think you need Eyechews - they're made by Equazen, have no aspartame in them (which some others have) and are strongly strawberry flavoured. DS1 takes them - and has never said they taste of fish.
