Poor Jack, poor you.
Have you got direct access to the hospital? Thankfully Gabe is well but I have found that the GPs are quite reluctant to treat even the simplest of things. It was a bit of a battle even getting some Gaviscon.
for you. Hope you have a better time with the GP. Consider yourself hugged xx

caitlinnjacksmummy · 24/11/2008 15:31

Hey,

I do have direct access to chidrens ward, have for about a year

Not bn in 4 ages though, since bout March or April (touches wood)

But will see if gp gives him antibiotic
if still no better he will be straight to hospital

Poor little man

So glad Gabe is better

Consider yrself hugged bk twice as hard

Thnku

Are any of u mum's on tabs like anti depressants or diazepam etc to elp u deal with things??

We have it too and haven't used it for about 3 months now. I love having it. The last thing I want to do is spend any more time in hospital, but its a great back up for situations like your in. It's annoying when GPs won't listen - I think they are too scared sometimes - but at least you know you can whip him straight there if needs be. Hope you don't need to though x

caitlinnjacksmummy · 24/11/2008 16:06

God a hope not either, a hate the hospital

They r gr8 wi Jack, they love him 2 bits, they know him soo well now but just hate being in thre

There was a time he was in at least once a week and ambulance all the time and just scares me....Spoke to dr on phone the other day and gettn taken off of diazepam, and it soo helps me to deal wi things

No to the ADs, tho they keep offering. Why are they taking them off you? Don't really know anything about them, perhaps they are worried about dependancy? I can't see how it'll make things any easier tto take them from you tho x

anonandlikeit · 24/11/2008 16:21

Hi There

Sorry your ds is feeling so poorly. Yes i am on Citalopram for anx/depression. Only been on them for the last 6 mths, (ds2 is almost6) so can't blame him entirely but I do feel so much better.
Why has your GP just taken you off the drugs if your circumstances haven't changed, did they offer you an alternative or any additional support?

Arabica · 24/11/2008 19:33

Hi CJmum. I'm sorry things are crap and i hope Jack's better soon.
I was on ADs but have come off. They weren't really working.

r3dh3d · 24/11/2008 20:44

Am sorry things are so pants - medicine really is an art not a science and some are just better at it than others. Can you only see the one GP? Ours is solid gold and trusts me to say when DD1 needs ABs and when she does not. If she's on holiday we just put off being ill till later , she's a lot better than anyone else in the practice.

Re: the ADs - can't believe he's taking them off if they work for you. They seem very variable things and can be bad for some and useless for others ... but if if it ain't broke why fix it?

caitlinnjacksmummy · 24/11/2008 20:57

Hey guys

Well, went to gp...fat lotta goot it fckn did tho

Never gave Jack AB's as sed his chest sounds

clear..he was the same dr who sed this the last time and Jack ended up with it going into his chest and being really ill

Ps...Dr hasn't stopped my Ad's(citalopram 20mg) h wants me to stop diazepam, won't gimme anymore, as they are addictive, which I am fully aware of, but they're only things that calm me wen Jack is ill or we are having a bad day and tbh ad rather take risk of being addicted than my depression/ocd anyday

Hope today is better xx

caitlinnjacksmummy · 25/11/2008 14:09

Hi,

Well I was at dr again this morning(same bloody 1)
as Jack was strugglin to breathe through his nose all last night and obv I am worried sick bout him

The dr looked totally feckd off that I was bk for a start, and then examined him...asked me wat the prob was cos he had examined him last night

Sed he felt I didn't trust them with Jack(which I don't)!!!! have no reason too....and pointblank refused to give him an antibiotic

Sed if he thought that there was slightest noise in his chest then he would not hesitate to give him an AB...sed he will always examine him

But if it "starts to get ridiculous" then he has the right to say that I am overreacting, or that I need to calm down!!

Thinks that the main prob is I worry too much!!

No feckn wonder!!!
And...this coming from the same gp that told me it was a viral thing last time and Jack ended up at A&E and had to have two courses of antibiotics.....bastard

So, I am majorly pissed to say the least
He spoke to me like I was a school pupil and he was the teacher ...knob!!

Don't let them grind you down!
We've had a bit of success with saline drops for a blocked up nose, but the best thing was a Karvol vapour release plug in. It's lovely and menthol-ly but quite relaxing too, and it has a lovely blue nightlight. Or some olbas oil on a cloth, either in his bed (but far away from him) or put the cloth over a radiator.
I hope Jack is better soon. Don't waste any more time at the GP. If you are worried, take him to hospital - it is what they are there for x
