Hi everyone had meeting tues and found out that we thought we had the last space at ASD provision but 2 other children were also going through the system at the same time as are DD so had to fill in loads of forms and it will go in front of inclusion panel and we will find out before xmas can't believe how disappointed i feel will just have to sit tight and see what happens.

Can anyone tell me who referred any of their DC's to a developmental paediatrian as i am gettng very confused my DD is not DX yet and my doctor said i have to go through the epilepsy consultant, the EP said my doctor should have referred DD all i want is some answers and everyone one is telling me to go somewhere else, so frustating, feel lik i'm banging my head against a brick wall.

Sorry you are having such a frustrating time.

The way it worked for us was that after seeing a health visitor we got referred to the specialst health visitor who then in turn referred us to the paediatrician at the local cdc.

We were lucky (in terms of getting a fairly quick DX) as the paediatrician told us on our very first appointment that she was 99% sure that a ASD DX would be around the corner and got our DS1 a place at the assessment nursery based within the cdc.

We received the formal DX within 6 months from then on paper, although it was comfirmed much earlier verbally.

I know the route to the paed's differ from area to area, but this was our experience in Plymouth.

Hope this helps.

Our gp referred, but as ds1 also asd it was fast tracked (I use fast loosely)

asd provision is becoming an issue I thin. The local one has one place free and up to 30 possible children. They have tightened the criteria now to non-verbal, if your child is like ds3 and minimally verbal you can forget even thnking about it, in fact there's even a panel to decide which parents can visit and we couldn't go before that!

fortunately there are 2 non specialist snu's locally, if he doesnt cope there (in ms atm) he will no doubt jump the ladder again one ay.

This is a new ASD provision so i am sure the waiting list will grow rapidly, we have looked around and the lovely lady that runs it said i think i can offer you my last place, she did'nt think of other chidren in the system. she has been to DD's school to meet her and talk to her teacher's to see if DD is suitable. She is not non-verbal talks the hind legs of a donkey. At the moment she is back at mainstream and has good and bad days she florished last year in a class of 12 at a nurture unit and there is only 12 children at ASD provision so i now she will thrive there, will have to see what happens if its meant to be its meant to be and i must try not to get to stressed about it.

Oh Karen thats pants! for you!!
J has gone the GP to CAMHS route for his DX, CAMHS are doing the DX which involves the psychologist assessing and writing a report and then getting it agreed with the psychiatrist. CAMHS here are able to make a DX (you don't have to go to southampton as most of the GPs seem to think), so would it be worth getting CAMHS involved with her? Its crazy exepcting an epilepsy consultant to refer her for an ASD DX!!!!
Hope you're all ok. xxxx

Hi Sarah my GP wouldnt refer L said because she is already under a consultant it has to come from them, which i thought was really odd her next app wasent till Feb but has been bought forward to tues, i will be so cross if the epilepsy consultant says something different as EP said the GP should have gone through CAMHS.

How are you and all your beatiful children, good i hope anything going on with J's school problem.

L has just been squad training for gymnastics so lovely to see her excell at something she is like a different child when she is there, so focussed, lovely to watch speak soon, take care x x x
